Steel is the traditional metal for the 11th wedding anniversary. It is an honest material to mark eleven years with: strong, plain, and better looking once it has been worked.
Every dish in this collection is cut from heavy gauge industrial steel, formed and hammered by hand, then darkened one piece at a time in our Lake Murray, South Carolina studio. The darkening is done by hand rather than by machine, which means every dish holds its own patina. Some finish closer to charcoal, others closer to a soft pewter gray.
Choose a round or square dish, plain or stamped with "I still do," or personalize one with your names, your date, or the Roman numeral for your year.
What is the traditional 11th anniversary gift?
Steel. It sits between pewter at ten years and silk or linen at twelve, and it is one of the more literal traditional materials: something built to hold up.
Why does every dish look a little different?
Because each one is darkened by hand, rag and solution, rather than coated by machine. The finish takes hold slightly differently every time, so color and depth vary from piece to piece. No two are alike.
Can I have the dish personalized?
Yes. The round custom dish can be stamped with names, initials, a date, or Roman numerals, up to 12 characters per line and up to three lines. A layout proof is emailed for your approval before stamping begins.
How long does it take to ship?
Every dish is made to order. Steel dishes need one extra day beyond our usual handling time, because the darkening has to cure before the piece can be waxed and packed.
